San Juan Sunset (Turret Ridge and Dunsinane Mountain)
It had snowed the night before and most of that early October day. I was exploring along the road above Silver Jack Reservoir in western Colorado looking for photo opportunities of the late fall colors and the snow. The clouds broke late in the afternoon and I found this spot above the reservoir hoping for a nice sunset. I was joined by fellow photographers and we chatted and waited to see what the evening would bring. As we waited, more and more of the clouds disappeared leaving a mostly bald sky. My new photographer friends gave up, leaving me alone in the cold waiting to see if anything would change. Right at dusk a few clouds reappeared adding some fleeting pastel colors above the peak. Glad I waited!
