It was one of those evenings that we all wish for. I had spent a incredible time earlier with a mule deer doe and fawn (Two photos from the 600 or so that I shot are in this gallery) and I was headed back to the cabin. I saw an elk cross the road in front of me with what I thought might be a calf. Sure enough, as I slowed the jeep when I got near where I thought I saw them cross, I saw these two climbing up the hillside. I popped out of the jeep and began to shoot away. While they were much less inclined to tolerate the human with the camera, mom did pause for a couple of seconds to stare at me before continuing up the hill. What a day!
