A snowy egret emerges from the shadows to be spotlit by the early morning light.
While I could not get a low perspective like I wanted, I think this photo really shows off the elegant, long legs of a black-necked stilt. This particular bird was up and about, giving those long legs a stretch before settling back down on her shallow nest with three eggs in it. Unfortunately we had to head back home before the eggs hatched. I just love their gorgeous red eyes!
A favorite past-time for me to do while in Florida is spend some time watching and photographing the antics of reddish egrets. They dance, splash, chase, catch fish and generally make me smile. This one was flying off, looking for a new spot to do its thing.
